LUCKNOW: The UP government is very likely to implement a major scheme to target the women’s vote bank before the assembly elections. Under this, more than 50 lakh women will be given financial assistance of Rs 50,000 each.

The first installment of Rs 20,000 will be given before the elections. After the elections, if the BJP government is formed, 3 installments of Rs 10,000 each will be given. Deliberations on the scheme have started within the government.

In fact, after registering a big win in the Bihar assembly elections last year, BJP’s focus is now on UP. Just as Rs 10,000 each was sent to women’s accounts before the elections in Bihar, a similar scheme will be launched in UP.

Government will target women before elections

The Yogi government has geared up for the assembly elections. Amidst the Gen-Z movement, the government is considering a major scheme to woo the women’s vote bank. A scheme is being considered for women’s assistance, self-employment, and economic self-reliance. The scheme will be proposed through the Women Welfare Department. Under the scheme, providing financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to women is being considered.

Priority to women from families below poverty line

The government will prioritize women from SC, ST families, women from BPL families, and women from economically weaker families in the scheme. It may include women from families whose income does not exceed 12 lakh rupees.

Women’s scheme will be a game-changer

People in the government believe that the scheme of cash incentives for women can prove to be a game-changer in the assembly elections. Such a scheme was first implemented in Madhya Pradesh, then in Maharashtra and Bihar assembly elections. Due to those schemes, BJP governments were formed there.
